I often hear from students who take my class, “Wow! Your class feels so different from aerial yoga classes I’ve taken before. It’s a true Yoga class.” And yet, most often I am teaching the same aerial yoga positions you see in all other aerial yoga classes. So, what is the difference?

First, we have to define what makes a yoga class feel like a yoga class.

All classic Hatha yoga lineages produce the same effect – they balance the energy body, so that the mind will settle into stillness (ideally for meditation). This is the original purpose for practicing Asana.

That being said, stringing a bunch of yoga positions together (either floor or aerial) won’t balance the energy body and settle the mind any more than stringing a bunch of random words together will create a clear story.

Effective sequencing is crucial to attain our goal!

This workshop will teach you how to organize yoga positions in the best possible way to succeed at balancing the energy body and bringing the mind to stillness.

*It will be helpful, but not necessary to have a hammock to use during the livestream.

Michelle Dortignac, founder of Unnata® Aerial Yoga, is an E-RYT 500 certified Yoga instructor of close to 25 years, while during a large portion of those years also being a professional aerial acrobatics performer. Her most influential Yoga teachers include Dharma Mittra, Alan Finger, Cyndi Lee, Susan Braham and Nishit Patel.
